Five Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Natalie on Valentine's Day Dates

Need a creative Valentine’s Day date idea? Don’t worry, we have you covered.

Don’t let the pandemic stop you from celebrating.

After checking in with my girlfriends I realized that Valentine’s Day plans were not top of mind for everyone like they usually are. Making the night special may take a little more effort this year but it is not impossible. If you are searching for last minute plans or looking to gift an experience, check out my five Valentine’s date ideas for tonight or tomorrow night that you can purchase, join or create!

1. Partner Yoga

Have you ever tried yoga? Has your partner? Yoga moves slowly and encourages relaxation. Something we all need these days. Sign up to Kristin’s Partner Yoga Class and let her guide you through a loving reconnection with your partner. Kristin’s commitment to her craft and infectious positivity may be exactly what you both need to turn up the romance this Valentine’s Day.

Join her class, cast it to the TV and for bonus points, light a few candles, put some rose petals down and you have yourself a fun Valentine’s Day date!

2. “Be Naughty” Workshop

There have been several articles about the pandemic taking an unfavorable toll on people’s sex lives. When I was hunting for unique ideas for couples, I was pleasantly surprised by shop owner Melanie Brisson’s offer to do partner workshops. Melanie’s “Be Naughty Shop” sells the tools you need to spice things up. Onto of selling the gear, Melanie facilitates workshops to help you excel behind closed doors. Click the link above to her store and send her a message asking about course availability and timing. Print off a homemade voucher and include it in your partner’s Valentine’s Day gift this year. Spicy, spicy!

3. Online Cooking Class Date

Let’s face it, cooking can be mundane right now. Three meals a day. Everyday. Lunches, dinners, the cooking never ends. But what if you were learning to make the perfect cream sauce? Or learning to bake the perfect rib eye? Aphrodite Cooks is offering online, international, gourmet cooking classes. Pour a glass of wine, turn on a virtual tour of the country your lesson is inspired by and you have yourself a wonderful evening in your own kitchen. If they are sold-out for tonight, don’t worry – booking a date for a future night still makes a great Valentine’s day gift!

4. Partner Meditation Date

When you think about time with your partner, how does it feel? Rushed, busy, transactional at times? That happens, especially when we are all pulling together to run our houses in the best way we can during these stressful times. But what if it only takes ten minutes today to allow you and your partner to connect deeper. Maybe Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to slow things down.

After dinner tonight, before you turn on the TV or clean the kitchen, organize a comfortable space for you and your partner to sit together. Then sit in front of each other, cross legged, and look into each other’s eyes. I know this may sound cheesy, but tandem meditation has been recommended by experts to help solve complicated relationship issues. If you are keeping an open mind, follow this five-step intro to mediation and see what effects it has on you and your partner:

  • Sit on the floor with your legs crossed
  • Look at each other with eyes open
  • Hold hands
  • Breath is a key component for meditation. It is incredible how much breathing can impact how you think and feel. Check out this breathing technique from the pros at Alo Meditation: “Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Take a long, slow, deep breath in, silently counting 1, 2, 3, etc. Exhale. Attempt to make the inhale and exhale the same length and even aim to increase the duration of both. Throw in an occasional audible, effortless, open-mouth exhale.”

Allow yourselves to laugh, feel silly, feel uncomfortable, but don’t give up until you feel connected. My husband and I tried this last night. I ran a hot bath so the room felt more spa-like. Lit a few candles and it was an effective way to change the vibe from busy to calm. The extra kisses were a welcomed bonus.

5. Virtual Tarot Card Reading

Wouldn’t we all like to have a crystal ball to tell us how the future looks?  When will the pandemic officially be over? Give the gift of insight. Even if the reading doesn’t convince you that some people can glimpse into the future. It may spark a fun conversation about what you hope will happen. Take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the magical element to a fun and relaxing night with this Virtual Tarot & Meditation Session for Two.

I hope you and your partner have a romantic Valentine’s Date night. Wishing you all the extra love in the world. Remember to give what you hope to get back. “The only thing we never get enough of is love; and the only thing we never give enough of is love” Henry Miller.
