Wardrobe Essentials For This Spring

Spring is around the corner and depending where you live, it might feel like a long ways away but do not fear, it’s coming! Trust me, it is better that you start prepping your wardrobe essentials now than wait any longer, and wake up one morning, try to get ready to work and realize that you actually have no appropriate clothing handy. And yes, it’s about that time of the year where your parka is way too much! It might seem like a good way to shed some extra calories from the all the sweating. But listen, looking like you just ran a marathon that morning won’t make you look cute for work. So let me help you by giving you a list of things you MUST have in your wardrobe to be ready for this Spring.

Trench Coat / Light Jacket

Of course a change of season means changing your jacket too. This one is a bit more personal I find. Although I am absolutely biased about trench coats, I also know that this is a matter of personal taste and your own personal style. To me, trench coats are so perfect for Spring since they protect you from the wind and rain, plus a trench coat is such a fashion classic. Not only is it great for spring but you can use it in all seasonal transitions (I love mine in the fall).

If you live a more casual lifestyle and are feeling a trench coat might be too much,  a utility jacket is likely right up your alley. On weekends, I actually opt for an oversized denim jacket or a faux-leather one.

Rain Boots

This is no brainer. Get ready for the weather and have a pair of rain boots handy. Thankfully, there are classy cute options now days. Hunter is the big brand we see most women wear but Sam Edelman also has cute chelsea style rain boots.

Umbrella

Needless to say this is a must. Spring is one of the rainiest seasons if not THE rainiest season (depending where you live- of course). But I added this one to wardrobe essentials because there is no need to make this one boring.

Personally, I am a big fan of the bubble umbrella. First of all, its clever design allows it to withstand windy conditions.  Most traditional bubble umbrellas are also see through so you can actually see where you are headed. Additionally, it has such a cute vintage look to it that adding all the practical perks plus the style – it makes it for the perfect umbrella choice! Stylish and practical.

You can also go for the traditional travel umbrellas that fit in your purse. Go for the fun options like animal prints.

Flats/Loafers

If you are a walker flats are must! Specially in spring when it is still not warm enough for a pair of sandals but definitely getting to warm for boots.

There are multiple styles and although it seems that loafers are trendier now a good pair of ballet flats are a staple.

You can have fun with this one too. No need to stick to the traditional plain neutral colours. Animal prints are still trendy — leopard, snake print, cheetah, zebra, etc.

High Waisted Skinny Jeans

I have never met a woman that did not rock a pair of high waisted skinny jeans! I am absolutely biased when it comes to this one. I believe every woman should have a pair of these. Plus, they look great with any pair of shoes.

Lighter Colours / Earth Tones

It’s time to switch ladies. I know Black makes us all feel confident and look great but Spring is the time to move to lighter neutral colours.  Whether it is switching your handbags to a neutral lighter one, or changing your tops, even your nail colours! Dark fall/winter colours are OUT! Get with the program ladies and start lightening things up. I know this can be hard for many of us who typically stick to those darker colours. But remember, you have to change your polish in two or three weeks anyway so knowing it’s not a huge commitment is an easy way to venture out and brighten things up.

Bonus: Get a New Hairdo!

A change of season is the perfect time to experiment with a new hair do. If you do not wish to cut those long beautiful locks of yours, you could then opt for a new hair colour or some highlights.

Enjoy having fun getting ready for Spring. Do not forget to set some personal goals and a bucket list. Spring and a summer go way too fast and there are so many things to do.
