Five Things You Can Do During Self-isolation

self-isolation

If you’re like the rest of the world, you’re likely doing your part to flatten the curve of Covid-19 by self-isolating and physical distancing. Likely, you’re going stir-crazy and have already watched everything on your streaming services. If you’re like me, you may be spending 90% of your time scrolling through TikTok and making videos, but be warned this too becomes boring as well (shocking, I know).

It can start to feel like you’ve done absolutely everything under the sun to pass the time and going on multiply walks outside (while social distancing) is just not cutting it anymore. Luckily, I’m bringing you a list of ideas to keep you busy during self-isolation and start to make it a little more enjoyable. It might also help you from killing your partner, but no guarantees. So here are five ideas on what to do during self-isolation!

1. Spring Cleaning

It’s spring and your house is likely in desperate need of some spring cleaning. This is the best opportunity you have to do it. You can stretch it over a couple of days by tackling one room at a time. It will give you something to look forward to every day. I know, no one wants to clean but trust me you’ll get to the point of doing anything to past the time. Make a list of every room you want to declutter and then check it off each day.

2. Workout

Is anyone else thinking self-isolation is like the first year of college, hello quarantine 15. The best way to kill an hour of self-isolation is to workout and it will give you some space from your partner or you can do a workout together. Lots of fitness bloggers and yoga studios are hosting live streams and sharing home workout videos. Most of these are free workouts that require minimal equipment. Check out our website for a guide to home workouts by Alex (here) or the Tone it Up app has free workouts during this time of self-isolation (here).

3. Try Something New

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but felt like you’ve never had the time? Maybe it was learning a new language or taking up photography, whatever it is now is your chance to do it! You’ve got plenty of time now and no excuse not to do it. This will fill a couple hours of your day and give you a goal to work towards. Websites like skillshare make it easy for you to sign up for a course to learn a new skill.

4. Board Games or Puzzles

Board games and puzzles are the greatest way to kill some time and give you some quality time with your partner that doesn’t involve Netflix and the couch. If you don’t have either of these things, don’t worry, Amazon has a whole bunch of Mattel games you can order. I personally love playing Sequence, its the perfect two-player game but can be played with more people when social distancing is finally done.

5. Write

Writing is a great way to pass the time and gives you something to keep your brain working. Whether its journaling or blog writing, you can use it to have some quiet time from your partner. Don’t have a reason to write? Considering joining us as a contributor and writing articles for us!

Being stuck at home doesn’t have to make you stir-crazy. All you need to do is find new things each day to keep you entertained. Whether you workout or spring clean or simply write in a journal, doing something different each day will make time go by faster.
