Fall Décor Ideas For Any Budget

Fall is a beautiful time of year. For so many reasons. But the fall décor is definitely one of my favourite color palettes. Sometimes we feel obligate to spend lots of money on new décor, but the ideas below will provide fall décor ideas for any budget.

What makes fall special? Romantic even?

Fall is often linked the idea of letting go.

The trees let go of their leaves. The flowers let go of their colour, and many plants return to the earth, until we meet them again in Spring.

In short it is time to start anew.

Fall is the perfect opportunity to redecorate. Something about adult arts and crafts inspires my creative side. Instead of being productive I find myself painting pumpkins and collecting leaves for arts and crafts with my son. I find myself removing summer clothes and exchanging them for cozier, earthy colors. Big sweaters and leggings, yes please. But I also take some time to change the colors and smells throughout our house to make fall echo all around us.

Confession.

I haven’t always loved Fall. The bright orange pumpkins, the deep browns; the bright greens that are often associated with fall used to turn me off. It is a stark contrast from the bright summery yellows and pinks that I grow fonder and fonder of, all summer long. However, I realized there are pastel shades or variations of fall colors that really speak to me. And once I discovered these alternatives, there was no going back.

Here are a few of my Fall design ideas for any budget. a true signal that summer is over.

Step 1. Choose your color palette with two or three leading colours

My fall palette this year is gold (replacing traditional orange) seafoam (replacing traditional green) and soft pink

.

Step 2: Replace your current soft décor items with your seasonal colour palette

I always replace my throw pillows and throw rugs with colours within my seasonal palette. It is a small change that has a big impact.

If you are looking for a budget friendly, DIY decoration, you can use seasonal vegetables to create ambiance. I purchased a few pie pumpkins ($2.50), bubble gum pumpkins ($5.00) and a bag of seasonal vegetables from Downey’s Farm, painted them in my palette, and loved the outcome!

What do you think?

This project gave me the opportunity to have a fun fall outing, a fun craft with my son and the result was a beautiful fall inspired centrepiece.

Centrepieces

My centrepiece always changes with the seasons. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and often your kitchen table is at the centre of everything. This is a great place to showcase your colour palette and crafts.

Step 3: Scents throughout the house

If you are like me, you have candles everywhere. Every room in our house has a candle. I love the soft aroma of an unlit candle in a room. But I rotate these candles seasonally. I usually make my seasonal candles last over a few years, because rarely are they lit, but when they are, we have our décor play on all of our senses.

If you love seasonal scents, make sure to also change your hand soaps.

I love stopping by at different soap shops. But Bath and Body Works really makes beautiful scents for holidays. I picked up a few of these delicious pumps for the house and the cottage. The attractive price helps fit into our fall decor ideas for any budget!

Step 4: Small accents that pack a punch

When I think of Fall décor, I think about the experiences I find myself having this time of year. Apple picking, pumpkin picking and hayrides are a few things that come to mind. So, I try to incorporate more rustic décor items. Things you have around the house, can be made to look more Fall- friendly, if you add something as simple as twine.

The colour of the twine adds a wooden feeling, without actually having to purchase shelving units or something costly.

Seasonal flowers are a beautiful way to brighten your interior or exterior space. Read this article for tips on gardening ideas!

Step 5:  Let gratitude be the theme in your Fall décor

One of my favourite trends in Fall, is the amplification of gratitude. From little blocks with inspirational sayings on it, to baskets and wooden crates, there are many fall décor items that have a focus on gratitude. And I’m here for it.

We picked up this gratitude journal to leave out on our kitchen table throughout the season. If we find ourselves using it, maybe I will incorporate this into our winter décor.
