Today, I am sharing some fun activities to try this fall. Speaking of fall, I really adore this season. I love the crisp and refreshing feeling that it has. When fall comes around, I feel a part of myself being reborn. I am always very excited for that first sip of a warm latte and initial bite of a fresh pumpkin pie.
I know what you are all thinking at the moment, though. Are the activities that I am about share Covid-19 friendly? Honestly, the pandemic has taken a toll on us all in various ways, we know that, but I am pleasantly surprised at all the activities I have been able to do safely. From my own personal experience, I have had to be very careful, not only for myself of course, but for my older family members and friends with autoimmune diseases. I can truly say that I have been able to hangout with my friends who are within my social bubble and respect all guidelines.
I have worn clean and new masks everyday. Carrying hand sanitizer in my purse as well as in the car has also helped me to disinfect my hands very frequently. I am always reminding my loved ones to do the same, while still respecting what is best for their own needs. When being outdoors, in many situations, I can distance myself appropriately.
I have even taken the test myself, ensuring that what I have been doing is working. Again, this is just from my own experiences. If you feel differently, please speak out as you wish. I would certainly avoid any place that is not adhering to the rules. I just want everyone to be healthy and safe the same as the next person. With that being said, I have gotten creative at findings ways to keep myself busy.
Below, I have prepared a list of fun activities that you can try this fall with your social bubble. These recommendations are in Ottawa and/or within an hour away from it. I think that we can stay safe and still get outdoors or be crafty. These suggestions could also be just what you need to lift your spirits during these uncertain times. Being around those that love you can make the world of a difference.
Visit a Fruit Farm
On a nice sunny day, it can be fun to visit a farm that sells fresh produce. You can socially distance at the farm, buy great products for your next cooking or baking session and take in the scenery. You can do things like pick apples for an apple crisp, or pumpkins to have some fun carving them later. Some of my favourite farms include:

Have a Paint Night In
My hairstylist suggested that I try this. She knows that I love to hangout with my friends and try new things. I am so happy that she recently told me about Colour Me Mine. Colour Me Mine offers social distanced painting that you can do in their store(s), but they also have paint kits that you can take home, which I particularly love. On their website, you can select the pieces that you want to paint, as well as the colours that you want to use and then they will create the kit for you. You can then schedule the pick-up time for when you want to grab your kit(s) to take home.
Now that fall is quickly approaching, you can paint things like a coffee mug, a planter for inside your home, or maybe even a piggy bank to collect all of the money that you are saving on parking while studying online, or teleworking during these times if you are like me. They even have a ‘projects page’ that can give you ideas on what to paint and how to paint it. They have a really modern ‘colour block pumpkin’ that I am interested in. Regardless of what you choose, the idea that you can now set up a paint night at home with those who are in your social bubble is so exciting. Throw in some charcuterie boards, fun drinks (responsibly) and desserts and there you have it – the perfect hangout planned (at least I think so).
Try a New Coffee Shop and Go For a Walk
Palmier is a café that is very aesthetically pleasing. It has a great interior with a lot of pink and fun decor pieces, such as vibrant pillows. It also has a bar and good food that uses locally sourced ingredients. I recommend this place because it is located in Chelsea, Quebec. This is a great area to do some exploring in, especially when the leaves have turned into wonderful colours. All in all, this café is very Instagram worthy. Just be cautious of the fact that it gets busy fairly quickly, especially on weekends.
These fun activities to try this fall are options that can be done with your best-friends, family members or even your significant other (whoever is in your bubble). If you still need some help with completing your fall wardrobe, visit one of my latest posts here.
