How To Add Creativity To Your 2022

Every New Year, diet and fitness related resolutions come flooding in. Whether it be working out more or eating junk food less, restricting resolutions are often dreadful and difficult to stick to. Instead, try adding these tips to boost creativity your in 2022!

Pick Up a Creative Hobby

This year, instead of picking up the weights or lacing up your running shoes, consider adding a creativity boosting activity to your New Year’s goals. While it may not feel as physically demanding, hobbies to incorporate creativity in your life can boost mental health immensely. Creative hobbies can range from knitting or crocheting to cooking with new ingredients and everything in between. You can also try gardening, creative writing, photography or learning a new language.

Freshening Up Your Look and Space

A change in surroundings is often one of the best ways to boost creativity, whether it be your bedroom or your makeup routine. Something as simple as rearranging your space, changing your shade of blush (my recent favourite is Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek To Chic) or trying a new cut of jeans can spark new creative ideas in your everyday routine. I recommend adding a new colour to your wardrobe or a new hairstyle to your everyday work look.

Creativity With Friends

Many fitness professionals suggest that finding a friend to workout with is one of the best ways to stay motivated and consistent. Same goes for implementing creativity! Having a buddy to embark on new creative adventures with not only makes it more fun, but holds you accountable and can help relieve the anxiety of trying something new. Together you can enrol in a pottery class, painting lessons or beginner dance workshop. You can also take a trip to the local theatre, art gallery or even just a walk in the park.

Get Creative With Your Reading Choices

While reading more as a New Year’s resolution is common, many people gravitate towards self-help or non fiction books to inspire their new start. Instead, try browsing a new section in the library, bookstore or online. Fictional novels, poetry and literary essays are amazing options to boost creativity and allow you to escape your world for a while. Check out Books To Read This Fall or Three Books To Feed Your Travel Bug for some suggestions. And! If reading is not your cup of tea, try writing instead. Gravitate away from your daily journaling and use your imagination to write something new.

More Nature, Less Noise

Sometimes the best way to boost creativity in your life is to do less. Instead of grabbing your phone first thing in the morning, during lunch break or right before bed, try having quiet time. Spending time in silence is known to help spark creativity, as well as give you a break from the constant influx of information coming at you. My best suggestion is to spend more time outside. A walk around your neighbourhood or favourite park with your phone on Do Not Disturb is sure to clear your mind, put you in a better mood and boost your creativity.

Hopefully some of these tips spark your creative juices and make New Year’s resolutions less dreadful and easier to stick to!
