Meet Jovanka Jazic

Jovanka Jazic is our newest contributor over here at Pretty and Smart Co. She joined us a couple of months ago now and has been a wonderful addition to the team. This month, she shares with us, a little bit about herself so you can all get to know her a little better. We’re sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her on our main page.

Without further delay, meet Jovanka.

What is your name or nickname?

Jovanka Jazic

Zodiac sign:

I’m a Scorpio. Don’t hate!

What is your relationship with P&S Co.?

I am a contributing writer at P&S Co!

Where do you live and what do you do?

I currently live in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. I’m a Business Development Representative at Adaptavist, where I help businesses find solutions with their process and software.

Tell us about why you began lifestyle blogging and what you write about.

I used to write for HerCampus during my time at University. It was a total blast! I met so many wonderful people, wrote about a variety of topics, and had an opportunity to showcase my passion on a public forum. Once I graduated and began working full time, I quickly realized I again needed to find a creative outlet!

What makes you feel pretty and smart? What does it mean to you?

For me, being “pretty and smart” is a reflection of how you are as a person. I am a big believer in being a good person who helps others along the way. If I am given an opportunity in life, I will always pass on knowledge to others regardless if it’s for career, lifestyle, relationships, etc.

What’s next for you, in life, in love or in business?

I’m striving to be the best possible version of myself- in my career, my relationship, as a friend, and as a daughter. At the moment, I am looking to advance my career and take on more hands-on opportunities in my community.

I am fortunate to have a strong support system behind me, and I have no doubt that I will succeed!

What is your favourite thing you’ve ever written?

When I was in my final semester of undergrad, I wrote a 37-page major research paper about Blood Feuds in Renaissance Italy. Despite it having been written in an academic context, to this day I am proudest of that essay. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but, also the most rewarding.

How do you juggle it all and stay motivated/growing/consistent in your passions?

I made a New Years’ resolution with myself that I would find a method to the madness which was my never-ending desire to take on new challenges and commitments. To which I failed miserably to find an immediate solution, however, I’m working on it! Definitely, I would say that having a good system of keeping myself organized has saved my life, professionally and personally. Once I could master staying organized, I could find which hobbies I was the most passionate about and find ways to fulfil those dreams.  I stay motivated by realizing that I have to constantly chase a further version of myself. Matthew McConaughey gave an amazing speech at the Oscars where he spoke about chasing himself ten years later. You won’t ever catch up to your future self but it’s a great person to look up to.

What would you tell younger women who haven’t yet taken a risk they might be considering? Is this something you might not have followed yourself?

Stop letting potentially hearing the word “NO” deter you from trying. I wasted so much time, energy, and emotions hiding from the world because I was afraid of rejection. Who cares? Someone says no today, someone else will say yes tomorrow! Instead of being afraid of rejection, I took it as a learning opportunity to ask why that was the answer.

What is the best word to describe you and why?

Ambitious!

What is your guilty pleasure?

A bag of Jalapeño Cheetos and a good history documentary. My ideal Friday night, to be honest.

Number one thing on your bucket list right now?

I want to visit Monaco so badly! Do I totally understand that it’s outrageously expensive to even breathe the air there? Yes. Do I care? No. I’d be content with an afternoon walking around Monte Carlo.

What is your favourite quote?

“A  jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Thank you to Jovanka for sharing a little bit of you, with all of us. If you’re looking to learn more about Jovanka you can here. You can also look here to see some of her P&S Co. content. Until next month, take care!
