Perhaps you have your summer clothes all picked out, but are now wondering what accessories to wear. I am really loving the accessories I have ready and I would love to share them with you. Down below, you can find a list of my favourite SS2021 accessories.
1. The Hair Clip or “Claw Clip”
We are currently seeing celebrities like Marianna Hewitt, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber wearing their hair up with a cute hair clip. I fully support this trend as it keeps my hair out of my face and also keeps me cool when it is hot out. This look is also effortless, as all you have to do is tuck your bangs behind your ears and clip your hair up, it really is that simple.
My favourite hair clips right now are from Remi The Label, a small business located in Barrie, Ontario. In particular, I wear their Large Tortoise 4″ clip. You can’t beat the price and the quality is excellent. I love this accessory styled with a white linen blouse, beige trousers and a nude heel, for example.
2. The Scrunchie
Who ever thought that these would make a come-back? This plaid scrunchie from Oak and Fort is on sale right now and I adore wearing it. The colours on this item are ivory, brown and black. I use it to tie my hair in a ponytail or bun for work during the day and on weekends. The size is also great as I find that some tend to be too small. The material itself feels more luxurious than other ones I have tried as well. It is completely safe for your hair and you don’t have to worry about this accessory causing any damage to it.
I again love to pair this accessory to an outfit that consists of whites and beiges. I think it can be worn for errands, on nights out and at the cottage. It is so versatile and that’s why I highly recommend it. The prices of certain scrunchies can be fairly high, but I think this price is reasonable for how many times I have worn it so far.
3. The Fedora Hat
Want to protect your head from the sun and elevate an outfit? I find fedora hats to be so fashionable and chic. The western vibes a fedora hat can give off takes me to an LA dessert, or Arizona and I am here for it every time. My favourite western hats are from Aritzia. The wool makes them a bit heavy but they still keep me cool overall and I find that they are the most sturdy. I do go over them with a lint roller frequently to make sure they stay clean and in perfect shape. My favourite one this year is linked here. It is called the Auxiliary Wool Western Hat and has the cutest thin string and bow detailing. I think the tobacco brown colour is also lovely. Pairing it with ripped denim is a sure win!
4. The Tote Bag
I love wandering through a market on a Sunday to find fresh flowers, breads, jams, vegetables, etc. A market tote bag is all the rage right now, which is great, because it’s quite practical. I highly recommend the more structured and sophisticated tote bags like this one in the “camel” colour from Oak and Fort. It is durable, less easy to stain and also has other compartments that can separate your wallet, phone and etc.
If you want something more lightweight and for the beach, this Striped Tote Bag is a great price and comes in either an airy cream colour or navy.
Keep in mind, another trend right now is the straw bag trend. I like the look and think that these bags look super cute, especially for a day at a winery. I must admit though, I have yet to find a reasonably priced option with a sturdy straw material, not one that is flimsy.
5. Platform Sneakers, Wedges and Slippers
Yes, you heard right. Platform slippers are a thing now. I must admit, I am not onboard. But, they do look very comfy and that is what slippers are for. To give a nod to the platform trend, my favourite wedges are available at Zara. They are called The Platform Wedge Leather Sandals, are super cute, easy to walk in and are again, versatile.
6. The Baseball Cap
Have you seen this New York Yankees Dark Green/White Adjustable baseball cap all over Instagram? I have, and I am obsessed. Pairing this baseball cap with a simple white or grey t-shirt, jeans and converse or some other sneaker is the cutest weekend outfit. Even if you’re not into baseball, or you probably can’t name one single baseball player on their team, it’s okay because you’ll be looking extra cute!
Other trends include the baguette bag, sheer socks to pair with heels, padded sandals, net, florals and more. The list really does go on, but as you can see above, these are my favourites. They are not over the top or hard to style. I hope that you found this helpful and maybe it’ll inspire you to get out this summer and try some different activities also.
