Recent Sephora Haul: Beauty Product Reviews

Lately, I find that there are so many influencers and ads on social media. It is hard to tell which product reviews are genuine. Do you ever wonder how often companies pay for good reviews and/or delete the bad ones? Or, if the influencers posting the paid ad have even used the product consistently? I guess the only way to really ever know is to test the products out for yourself. You can also trust me! 😉 Of course, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone can react to products differently. But, I’m here today to share some beauty product reviews with you (all from Sephora), in hopes that they can help guide you in any way.

Dyson Airwrap Styler
Price: $699.99
Review: 9/10

I was fairly hesitant to spend this much money on a hair styler, but I must admit, I am overall very happy that I did. It is a blowdryer, round brush, straightener and curler all in one product. The leather case that it comes in is a gorgeous brown and the product itself is grey and pink. It offers settings that are both hot and cold. The technology is known to be better for your hair (not as damaging). This is essentially the only hair styler I have been using ever since I purchased it.

After I shower, I let my hair air dry a bit, then I straighten it out with the round brush attachment, style my bangs and then use the curling attachments to add waves to the bottom half of my hair. Ever since using this styler, I have received so many compliments on my hair. People have commented that it looks to be in great shape and is styled very nicely.

This styler is intimidating at first. It took me about 3 tries to get the hang of it, but then it was smooth sailing and quite effortless from there.  The only reason I am not giving this a 10/10 is because of the price. Also, if you have thicker hair, even with hairspray, because of the technology, the curls aren’t as defined or hold for long. Instead, they will always result in waves or just curly ends.

Also note, this product wouldn’t be ideal to travel with. All the attachments would take up quite a bit of room and the base itself is fairly thick. I have accepted that this is a styler that will stay at home, unless I bring the base, with only 1 or 2 attachments along with me on vacation and that’s it.

Face

Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial – Youth To The People
Price: $70.00 (CAD)
Review: 5/10

I really wanted to like this product but it was fairly disappointing. I learned about it from Allana Davison, an influencer who I recently discovered, who shares many beauty product reviews.  This item is said to be a really great exfoliating facial with enzymes and niacinamide, which I have learned about recently. I wanted it to help with the pores on my nose and overall dullness.

I tried it multiple times and each time it left a very grainy texture on my face. Even when I used very little and also washed it off with a lot of water, the texture remained unsatisfying. The ingredients are clean, there is no odd smell and the packaging is nice, but personally, it was not worth the money and I will not be repurchasing it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Styling Wax
Price: $30.00 (CAD)
Review: 7/10

As we have all seen, the fluffy and laminated brow has been trending for quite some time. I absolutely love it, as it adds shape and dimension to the face. Because of the stay-at-home orders, I have been unable to get my eyebrows laminated for periods at a time. Brow lamination is my preferred method as it lasts for a month and is foolproof. Since I have had to find an alternative product, I tested out this styling wax.

Before I discovered brow lamination, I tried many gels. I found that my eyebrow hairs would go back to their normal shape already after only an hour or so and the gel would form a crust on my eyebrows, which was never cute. I love brow lamination because it is clean, and my eyebrow hairs stay defined for about a month. This styling wax is the best that I have yet to find.

The issue is that by the end of the day again, it becomes a bit crusty, even when the gel is clear. I have found that using a clean and new eyebrow spoolie every time I do my brows can help, and also having no foundation on my face and only styling my brows, with no other makeup around them is best.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
Price: $53.00 (CAD)
Review: 10/10

This product is not a foundation. It is called a “Glow booster” and is technically listed as a highlighter on their website. I skip my foundation altogether and use this as my base instead. It is very light, still hides any pigmentation and leaves a dewy finish. This is extremely great for summer, when you don’t want something heavy on your face. I will continue to order this product again and again and I highly suggest adding it to your routine. There are many different colour options to choose from, so you are deemed to find the right match for your skin tone.

Well, there we have it. Perhaps you had your eyes on some of these? I really hope that these beauty product reviews help you in some way. I will certainly have more product reviews in the future, as there are always new products to try! Happy shopping and stay safe!
