Six Unique Gifts to Give This Christmas

gifts to give this christmas

Love it or hate it the holiday season can be stressful, it can be so hard to find the “perfect” gift. That is why I decided to put together a list of six unique gifts you can give this Christmas. I know that picking out a meaningful gift, for someone who has EVERYTHING is the hardest of all. If you find yourself in that boat fret no more.

Personally, I love giving experiences over material gifts. To me, these are the gifts that keep on giving because they give you and your giftee a special memory. Plus after last year’s pandemic Christmas I think it is important to celebrate and take advantage of the fact that we can do things together with the people we love. However, I recognize that people have busy schedules and it isn’t always easy to give these experience gifts so my list has a mix of both. Overall, I think there is a pretty good selection and something for everyone. On that note – let’s get into it!

Tickets to Something

You know your loved one best so amend this recommendation accordingly. I however can recommend concert tickets, a magic show, airplane tickets, movie tickets, tickets to the ballet or a sports game. Giving an experience is a great alternative to a predictable or cookie-cutter gift and it gives twice. Once when they open the gift and once when they fulfill it. Plus it adds a nice thing to their calendar they can look forward to. A word of caution here would be to ensure that your giftee is prepared for what you’re gifting. Do not give grandma vouchers to go zip lining because you really want to go … unless you are certain grandma is physically prepared for that. If that is the case, happy zipping.

A Service They Love

This one is always a go-to for me. Call their favourite spa or salon and purchase a service they’d like. You can buy them a facial, a mani-pedi, maybe a massage for someone you really love. This is especially suitable for people who are super busy because they can choose the time and date they use the service. This is also much easier to surprise people with if you’re worried about them being out of town travelling or if they live far away. BONUS: This can also be replicated for the new mom in your life who already has everything. Send her a cleaning service. She will be eternally grateful.

A Cameo

Cameo is a pretty cool service. For various prices, you can get a celebrity, athlete, actor, comedian, politician or what have you, to personalize a video message for your giftee. How fun is this? If you didn’t know you could do this you’re welcome. This idea is truly a go-to for the person who has everything. You can get really creative with the messages too. This gift is actually perfect for any occasion. What I really like about the cameo is how you can choose someone who your giftee really admires or is interested in, it is such a personal gesture.

A Subscription

Yes, I know magazine subscriptions aren’t a thing anymore but think bigger! Giving someone a subscription box, or subscription service is truly the gift that keeps on giving. What comes to mind for me is a streaming subscription, like Disney+ or Spotify. I’m also thinking something like a niche subscription box really tailored to the giftee’s preferences, there are SO many cool ones; fitness equipment, wine, cheeses, skincare, fashion and even books! If this idea tickles your fancy here are a few of the best subscription boxes this year, as per “My Subscription Addiction.” These also vary in price and interest which is great for being able to personalize your gift and make it that much more thoughtful.

Baked Goods

Might I suggest giving the person who has everything some good old-fashioned baked goods? I love giving homemade gifts! Personally, I will be gifting cookie boxes, jams and jellies. There is something so warm about giving something that you put your heart into. Bonus points for family recipes (these cookies from Reilly are THE best). I also know a few other PSCO gals agree with this sentiment. Sam has a great recipe for cranberry bliss bars which I made last year and will be making again shortly. For some inspiration on gifts from the heart look no further than here.

If you didn’t find the perfect gift here (but I bet you did)  buy them a puppy. Just kidding, feel free to check out Cosmo’s 23 other unique gifts to give here. I’d also love to know what you’re gifting people this Christmas. Please, drop me a line or let me know in the comments your idea of the “perfect” gift. Make sure you add a sweet note to whatever you give, a few simple words go a long way with your loved ones. PLUS there’s no time like Christmas to tug on those heartstrings.

I will leave you with one last thought before I send you on your merry way, to fill your online shopping carts full of gifts for people you love. I will caution against giving your loved ones yet another candle. Nothing against candles, it’s just, you can do better and we both know it.  The unique approach to gift-giving can be artfully done with just a tiny bit of thought and leave such an impactful impression on your giftee. Happy gifting.
