Fall is quickly approaching, which means it’s time to start pulling out the mystery novels!
I love nothing more than reading thriller and mystery novels when the leaves start to change. It seems fitting to read a good mystery during the fall, and even more so the closer we get to October. So I thought I would compile a list of books that you need to read this fall. Some of them are older and truly my favourites, while some of them are new novels!
Good Girls Lie by J.T Ellison
Have you always dreamed of going to a prep boarding school? You might rethink that dream after you read Good Girls Lie by J.T Ellison. This book follows the girls of The Goode School. Appearances are everything at this school, and as long as you play by the rules, no one will question you. When a popular student is found dead, all hell breaks loose. This fast-paced novel will have you on the edge of your seat. Make sure to read it with a mug of hot chocolate and extra marshmallows.
The Husbands by Chandler Baker
Did you love the Stepford Wives? If so, you’ll love this gender-swap take on it. This book follows Nora Spangler. She and her husband are out house hunting when they stumble upon Dynasty Ranch, an exclusive suburban neighbourhood. She meets a group of successful women like herself and agrees to help them in a wrongful death case. As the case unfolds, Nora begins to realize things in this perfect suburbia are not by design, and it just might be worth killing for. Cozy up by the fire with this feminist thriller. Enjoy it with a hot apple cider.
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
Her husband leaves her a note with only two words, “protect her.” This book follows Hannah Hall as she tries to figure out why her husband, Owen, has disappeared without a trace. The only thing Hannah knows for sure is that she must protect her stepdaughter, Bailey, at all costs. As Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth about Owen, they soon find he’s not who he said he is. Grab a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and curl up with this hard-to-put-down novel.
All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
Fans of The Girl on the Train will love this novel by Megan Miranda! This novel follows Nicolette Farrell, who returns to her hometown after ten years of caring for her aligning father. Old wounds are reopened when a case similar to the disappearance of her best friend ten years.
