Netflix Canada has gotten a TON of new shows recently, everything from Cheer to Don’t F*ck with Cats. These two for instance, are amazing shows to binge, but not really romantic for a month that’s dedicated to romance. So we decided to put together a February watch list, to focus on shows and movies you can watch to celebrate Valentine’s Day and keep the romance going all month long.
Virgin River
Based on a popular book series (by Robyn Carr) this show has a twist of romance, drama, and mystery. Mel is a nurse practitioner who moves to a remote town to start a new life. She soon realizes small-town life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and that running from your past isn’t always the answer. I binged this show in two days and can happily confirm it’s been renewed for a second season. This is the perfect show to watch with your gal pals and have a bottle of pinot (or two).
To All the Boys: P.S I Still Love You
If you haven’t watched the first movie of this trilogy, add it to your watch list as well. This movie is also, surprise, based on a popular book series. This is for all the girls that love a good rom-com and a good YA (young adult) storyline. Lara Jean and Peter are back for the second instalment in the trilogy and they’re still as cute as ever. As their relationship continues to blossom, another recipient of her old love letters resurfaces. This movie comes onto Netflix Canada just in time for Valentine’s Day, February 12th to be exact. Perfect cuddled up on the couch with your significant other and some popcorn.
Soundtrack
If musicals are your thing, then this series is for you. This series showcases the stories that connect a group of couples living in L.A. Soundtrack is filled with a variety of different music new and old, making this perfect for anyone who enjoys music. This romantic drama is perfect to binge, but don’t fall too in love, it, unfortunately, wasn’t renewed for another season.
Someone Great
This movie has been out for a while but it is the perfect Galentines Day flick. Jenny, a music journalist, is preparing herself for a new beginning after just being dumped. She and her closest friends prepare for one last adventure together. Grab your gal pals and celebrate Valentine’s Day together with this movie and your favourite snacks.
Pride and Prejudice
An oldie but always a goodie. Who doesn’t dream of one day finding their own Darcy? Based on Jane Austen’s novel, this movie follows the Bennet family. The mother, Mrs. Bennet, is determined to marry her daughters off, and Mr. Darcy is on her list of suitable men. I have watched this movie along with Breakfast at Tiffany’s every Valentine’s Day since I was in high school (even when I had a boyfriend). This is the perfect movie to watch alone and have a slice of pizza (or the whole thing, NO JUDGEMENT).
February is all about romance, so why not celebrate it with a bunch of romantic shows on Netflix. Already watched all these? That’s fine, Netflix Canada even has a section dedicated to Valentine’s Day, so you can watch endless amounts of rom-coms all month long. Looking to add Valentine’s dinner to this watch list?
